A character is a face and a look you can cast again and again: write its @handle in a prompt and its picture and look go with it, so the same person appears in every image and video. BudgetPixel has 23 official AI influencers, free for every user: Barry, who is rich in his head, Neville and his neck, Rosa, who meditates until the bench breaks, Fifi and her ten-centimetre lashes, and more. Your own characters, and the ones you collected from the marketplace, work the same way.

AI influencers on BudgetPixel

Meet all 23, watch them in action, and cast one in the studio.
Available on every paid plan, like the rest of the API. Over MCP, your agent does the same with list_characters, get_character and recommend_influencers, and casts with an @mention in generate_image or generate_video.

Meet the influencers

Each one comes with a look nobody forgets, a story, a catchphrase and a dozen reference pictures. Open one to see them all, or write the handle in a prompt.

Casting with an @mention

  • Write @handle anywhere in the prompt of an image or video generation. The mention is replaced by the character’s name and look, and its default picture is added as the first reference image.
  • @handle.tag casts a specific picture instead of the default one, for example @barry.full_body or @fifi.selfie. A character’s tags are in picture_tags.
  • Up to 4 characters per generation, each one a mention.
  • Only handles you can cast resolve: the influencers, your own characters and the ones you collected. Any other @word, and an e-mail address, stays plain text.
  • The model must take characters. supported_models on GET /v1/characters/{handle} lists them, and the prompt of each such model says so in the API reference. A mention on any other model is refused with the list of models that can take it.
  • Character pictures are reference images: on video models they use reference-to-video mode, so don’t combine a mention with a start or end frame.
The create response lists the cast in characters, with each character’s page. When you post the result, crediting the influencer helps people find them.

In action

Each clip is one video prompt with an influencer @mentioned, made with Seedance 2.5 on BudgetPixel. Turn the sound on: they talk.
@rosa meditates. The bench does not survive.
@chad holds a single sheet of paper like a billion-dollar contract
@nanagloria wins in a neon gaming room
@barry says he is the leader. @neville saw that.

List the characters you can cast

GET /v1/characters returns the influencers first (this week’s trending ones on top), then your own characters, then the collected ones. Each comes with its mention, title, catchphrase, a one-line summary, traits, picture tags and a preview. Filter with source (official, mine, collected) and q (words that must all appear in the name, look or profile).

Everything about one character

GET /v1/characters/{handle} returns:
  • look: the character’s look, word for word. It is the text a mention sends with the picture, so you can reuse it with other tools.
  • The profile: personality, speaking_style, backstory, in_their_head and reality, directing_notes, signature_details and consistency_rules. Use it to write prompts, captions and scripts in the character’s voice.
  • pictures: every picture (portrait, full body, side profile, expressions, selfie, action, scene and more) with a download link. For the influencers and your own characters these are the full-size files (the influencers’ portraits are 4K), so you can use the character with other image and video tools too. A collected character’s pictures are preview size. Links are signed and expire after a few hours.
  • supported_models, how_to_use, and for the influencers usage: the terms for using them.

Using an influencer elsewhere

The influencers are free to cast in the images and videos you make, on BudgetPixel or with other tools. When you post, please credit them as “Barry, a BudgetPixel AI influencer” with a link to their page (page_url).
BudgetPixel’s influencers are never shown nude or in sexual content. On BudgetPixel such a request is refused with restriction_reason: "official_character_nudity"; suggestive outfits and poses are fine. The same rule is part of the terms for using them anywhere else.

Influencer recommendations

POST /v1/characters/recommend casts for you: describe what you are making, for whom and where it will be posted, and get the influencers who fit it best, each with why, a content idea and a ready-to-use prompt that starts with their mention. Set include_mine to consider your own and collected characters too.

Pricing and limits

  • The three character endpoints are free, with daily limits per account (the API and MCP together): 300 list calls, 100 character calls and 30 recommendations. Past a limit the endpoint answers 429 with Retry-After, until 00:00 UTC.
  • Casting adds no fee: a generation costs what the model costs. A character’s picture counts as a reference image, which a few models price per image, and POST /v1/cost counts the characters in your prompt the same way.
